Be cautious and use these best practices for online security.

Here are some steps you can take:

  • Never share your login credentials with anyone.
  • If you receive a strange or unusual call or message involving your account, don’t respond. Instead, contact Duke Credit Union directly by calling (919) 684-6704 or emailing dukefcu@duke.edu
  • Beware of fake text messages from UPS or FedEx about a package waiting for pickup.
  • Be cautious of links on websites you visit, or in unsolicited emails or text messages.
  • Be wary of shopping on social media and unfamiliar websites. Remember, if a deal sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Research the company/website before entering your card information and look at the reviews.
  • Use your credit card instead of your debit card. Don’t store your card information online.
  • Install security software on your computer or device.
  • When in doubt, check it out! Listen to your instincts; if something feels off, it very well may be.
